luminous dreams is a research-based lighting workshop established in 2022, in athens, greece by petros dermatas.

considering the medium of light as an applied art: luminous dreams research based approach allows for the development of unique state of the art creations. the workshop has the capacity for covering lighting needs across residential, hospitality and commercial sectors for both decorative and architectural lighting.

petros dermatas is a lighting designer with an msc in architectural lighting design from kth sweden (2009) and a bsc in electrical engineering (2003). combining his working experience in lighting, luminaire manufacture and electric engineering petros has developed professional expertise in luminaire design and manufacture while having worked in many prestigious projects in greece and abroad.

inspired by the mentality of modern mastery and the work ethic of old world artisanship luminous dreams aspires to develop a new dialog between designer and artisan based on mutual respect and understanding.

familiarized with both the inherent qualities of material and the manufacture process our goal is to ensure sound standards of production within a designer-artisan approach. we support both machining and handwork operations thus able to deliver mass production as well as single works of art.

light sources have always been the driving force behind the design of lighting fixtures. with the arrival of modern day led technology, this has somewhat changed liberating the designer from the constraints of the past allowing for a wider range of possibilities due to the plasticity that led technology offers. thus the combination of the driving possibilities of led, along with the geometrical advances in power, size and shape foreshadow an exciting future. a future that we are here to support.
